Jane Lake Pottery specialises in bespoke, hand built pottery working in stoneware and terracotta.

Uncomplicated forms that fulfil a function in an understated way, I particularly love.  Each piece is slab built, fashioned and moulded so that they are fit for purpose.

Inspired by the seasonal colours and textures of the surrounding landscape of the West Country, I also make simple dinnerware that my family use every day, including cups, bowls, plates and other functional pieces for the home, such as vases, lanterns and soap dishes.

I live and work in Plymouth.

My technique is transforming flat slabs into 3D objects and it always fills me with excitement to see what happens. Adding texture is the decoration and my chance to relax. This is Clay House in Greetland, Halifax and a commissioned piece.
